Out of range 'American Eagle HSc'
« on: February 05, 2018, 09:55:57 AM »
As is well documented, Interarms ordered 5000 HSc 'American Eagle' versions of the HSc in .32 ACP and another 5000 in 9mmK. These were all intended for the US market, so we don't see them over here in Europe.

In 2017, I found a 9mmK HSc with normal German proof markings and a 1978 Ulm proof date, but with the American Eagle on the slide. The pistol had a normal serial number 01.39619, and was not numbered in the special 5000-range.

So it seems that Mauser had a few pistols left with the AE that were sold on the German commercial market directly.
The 'AE' marking was a leftover from the Interarms Parabellum production. The same decals were used to etch the 'AE' on the HSc slide.

The photos show the out-of-range 9mmK HSc with AE on the slide, as well as the bitumen decals that were used to create the etching on the Parabellum chambers and HSc slides.

Little confusion on the number of American Eagle produced in 32acp. My list shows only 153 produced in 1977, numbered 0001 to 0153, and then 4,847 9mmK produced numbered from 0154 to 5000.

Good question. Will review the numbers.
