A little help on a Venezuelan 24/30 carbine.. (sights)
« on: October 25, 2018, 10:33:24 AM »
Hello,  I am new to the sight and I just picked up a 7x57 Venezuelan 24/30 short rifle (17.6/18" barrel)... project.  It has a nicely sporterized stock on it, a Bold trigger and the metal is in great shape.  However, the previous owner has destroyed the sights taking them off.  So..  Since the rifle has lost a fair amount of it's collect-ability, I think that I want to go ahead and put a scope on it.  It already has a bent bolt handle and I am about to order a Timmney low swing safety.  I am just wondering if Brownells Mauser 98 picatinny scope base is a good choice?  I have a local gunsmith that I will ask to drill and tap my receiver as I don't have the setup to do that part myself.

I will also need a new trigger guard, but I think those are fairly easy (but not cheap) to find.  If I have researched correctly, my rifle falls in the FN M98 large ring class.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!
