plastic grips original vs repro
« on: January 21, 2015, 12:51:49 AM »
I have a set of the new repro polymer grips as well as a set of originals. I can barely tell the difference as they have the same markings and even the same mould flash marks. Any sure fire way of telling original grips from repro?

None that I'm aware of.  They claim to use the same molds as the originals.  I would look for subtle differences in the color, polish or opaqueness of them.  Some of the Post-War Soviet made Grips look OK on the front but have very crude backs with bubbles showing.  I mention that only as another possible thing to look for on close inspection with a magnifier.

I always look for a bit of handling scuffs to identify original Grips.  Of course as time goes by those aftermarket Grips will have some scuffs also.  Wish I could be of more help!  Let us know if you find anything.
