Title: A Mauser byf42
Post by: donp326 on October 09, 2017, 03:47:50 PM
Here is my latest acquisition a Mauser BYF 42 3532a that was assembled in late January 1943.  It has an early frame and slide with a dusty blue finish on the slide. The AEG 38/Z3 grips were supplied to Mauser by Walther and are stamped with 359 at this time, but Mauser started receiving AEG grips directly shortly there after.

Nice.  Really like the non-walther P-38s especially the variation in the Mausers.  My byf42 is a little later than yours in the "a" series.  The "black" finish is neat but seems less durable than the subsequent blued.  Mine was the second P38 I ever purchased.  Enjoy it.  They are hard to come by now.

ro67gt it's not a black finish but a dusty blue that just appears darker than it is in the top photo and lighter than it is in the second photo. The dusty blue finish was made by sand blasting the slide before bluing.
