Model HSC Pistol / Re: Slide Lock problem

Your original Magazine Safety was bent and did not work.  Why would you expect bending your new Safety to work?  The original bent Safety could have been the reason the Slide cutout was worn.  I would suggest leaving everything as is since any further modification could ruin the pistol's collectability and therefore its value.

Finally, by replacing the Slide you would lose one of the matching serial numbers and also destroying its value.

Welcome to the Forum, HunterWulf.  Commercial variations were not numbered by Jan Still and to get a valuation you will need to provide a serial number.  Also, identify the Magazine by describing it's base and what type Holster do you have and  is it marked.  See this post, Reply #1, for types of Holsters:

Watch eBay and GunBroker auctions.  HSc parts are listed all the time.  Good luck:

Interesting ... I did a Yahoo! search of "Renato Gamba HSc" and got at least 2 dozen websites in return.  Suggest you try again.

Glad it could help, Francesco.  Just be sure you look for a WWII vintage Magazine Safety.  Other vintage will not work.  Meanwhile, you could try to remodel your Magazine Safety to work correctly and be sure not to lose that small Spring in the rear.

You forgot two other types of HSc Magazines.  From our book, "The Mauser HSc Pistol":

"There were three major magazine types used throughout production:  the earliest ones (1940 to 1942) had a machined follower and flat bottom or floorplate stamped with the Mauser banner (trademark) on it; the banner was subsequently discontinued leaving just a plain, flat floorplate; and the final type (1943 to 1945) had a machined or stamped follower and blank sheet metal floorplate that was indented near the front."

And finally: "Finger extension magazines were offered as an option for the HSc.  These used the standard magazine housings fitted with a special 2-piece blued sheet metal floorplate assembly that extended the pistol grip length."

None of the three reported in our database.  It would certainly be interesting to know where they are and where they have been.

Another "Congratulations", Gerben!  I am intrigued by the visible Barrel lockup at the Ejection Port.  Does the Barrel rotate on a cam action to unlock during recoil?

You certainly don't provide much information to base a valuation on your HSc.  However, the American Eagle Edition is generally valued at $500 to $550 in Very Good to Excellent finish condition and also implies matching serial numbers with no scratches or chips in the wood Grips and box with manual, test target, and bore brush.

Now that is two questions/corrections I've provided on this and your other post but still haven't heard from you on my query as to your source of the 1/3 and 2/3 caliber split on the American Eagles.  Looking forward to some kind of response.

Welcome to the forum Hacker51.  Actually our research shows that only the first 187 of the 5,000 American Eagles was in .32 ACP caliber.  The balance were produced in .380 to gain market share in the U.S. during the Bicentennial.  I am wondering where you got that 1/3, 2/3 information.

You are correct.  You have to specify WWII vintage for the part.

43
Spring replacement is based on shooting results (jamming) and not physical appearance.

44
Forgot to ask if you are using an original Mauser marked Magazine.  Some after-market Magazines are troublesome.  And "Yes" to purchasing new Springs if you have any doubts.

45
Not the ammo.  Most likely Magazine Lips, Magazine Spring, or Recoil Spring.  If you have another Magazine, try it.  If same problem occurs then replace Recoil Spring.  Otherwise replace Magazine Spring.  Both Springs can be purchased new from Wolff Gunsprings here:

Let me know how you make out.
