Title: Mauser 96 in .303
Post by: jeff60 on November 29, 2016, 03:05:50 AM
Hi,
I have been given a Mauser 96 to restore for my RSL club and have found that it is chambered in .303 British using an Enfield barrel and sights. I can't find any reference to any Mauser rifles being re-barrelled to .303.
Does anyone have any information on this conversion?

Cheers,  Jeff60

It is likely a gunsmith conversion.  I cannot imagine any other logical explanation for how a .303 barrel could get on a Mauser 96.  You are welcome to post pictures if you want.
