I don't know a lot about this gun, it was given to me by my father in law and was his fathers deer rifle.  How do I find the full history of this gun the serial number is wrg 0440.  Thanks

Well, IF that is the original ser nr then it is not any type of German military rifle.
Could be commercial production???  As said before - a photo would sure help with IDing it!
