I have a C96....1896 model that I bought several years ago at a gun show. Really pitted and a dark smooth bore. I'd like to make it a shooter. Does anyone rebore these to 9mm with new rifling?

I'm doing the same research online. It seems there aren't as many now as before, and I've read complaints about some of those! One that seems to be a good bet is a place called Redmans, in Washington state. I'm waiting for my C96 to show up. Its 7.63 and the ad said the bore was "worn".......probably like a shotgun. If so, I'll get it relined, same caliber as I already have a Czech CZ75 and a 1916 Luger. I also read an old post, and saw some pics of a weapon "re-barreled" by someone in California who used to cut off the barrel and weld on a new one........in the pics you couldn't tell.
