Title: Uniform Found
Post by: jcorl on March 07, 2016, 10:52:30 AM
The uniform has been in the closet in a plastic bag since 1946.  We just took it out yesterday to look at it.  It is amazing workmanship. Have to get the correct photos attached.

Your evaluation is absolutely right but there has to be more to the story than just this.  Please elaborate.

He cannot remember where he captured it. He forgot that he had it.  It looks to be a parade tunic from the 34th field artillery with a captain's rank.  He has the "piss cutter" cap and the garrison hat that goes with the uniform.  We were talking war relics and he has more in a foot locker, mostly of his old stuff.  He did not want to go thru it.  I have 50 to 60 photos taken at the time.  I will post.   Almost went into a yard sale. This would be my dad's brother in law. I should note that the coat is silk lined.  You would not get cold in this jacket.

Great back-story, Jim.  No telling what treasures that foot locker holds!  The stories these old soldiers could tell ...  Oh well, someday that will be us.
