Hi,
I'm almost certain that the answer is NO, but I think it is a good place to ask, anyway.
In 1908 the Brazilian Army reached an agreement to buy 400,000 Mauser rifles chambered for the 7 mm Mauser cartridge - that later were named "1908 Brazilian Mauser" by collectors.
However all the production was allocate to DWM, which made all the guns from this contract. Interesting to note that the Brazilian Lugers were bought in the same occasion.
So, in spite of the DWM production,  would like to know (1) if there is any mention of this contract in the Mauser files and (2) do any DWM archives survived until our days?
Greetings,
Douglas

C96 / C12 Broomhandle / Mauser M1932 Schnellfeuer
« on: January 10, 2018, 05:57:15 AM »
Hi folks,
Here is my Mauser M1932 Schnellfeuer, it alive and well (capable of full auto firing), chambered for the .30 Mauser ammo.
The Schnellfeuer was used by several Law Enforcement units in Brazil from the 1930s until the late 1970s. We have at least a dozen of them (in different condition grades) at the São Paulo Police Museum.I just started to work on them, and their serial numbers indicates at least one contract (or two separated contracts) purchased around 1935 (they are mostly in the 33-34000 serial number range). I'm planning to share my thoughts with you guys here.

On the other hand the M1932 showed here is a later production gun and, in spite of not having any Waffenamt, I do not discard the theory that it may have be brought as a war trophy by some veteran from the Brazilian Expeditionary Force, wh fought in Italy in 1944-45.

In any case, I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.
All the best,

Douglas

General Discussion / Hello
« on: January 10, 2018, 05:21:49 AM »
Hello,
Just like to say hello to all of you and also thank you for accepting me as a member.
It seems I know some of the people here as I've been also a member of other similar C&R forum like the Jan Still's Luger Forum, the P38 forum and the Luger Forum.
For those who don't kow me, my name is Douglas Aguiar and have been collecting firearms for more than 20 years now. I live in Brazil where I work as a corporate lawyer. In addition to that, I also work as the legal director and weapons curator of the São Paulo State Police Museum since 2016 - a capacity that has pushed me more to the historical research area.

As most of you may know, Brazil was one of the most avid buyers of Mauser rifles as well as C96 / Schnellfeuer pistols. So, I guess we are going to have some interesting conversation.

All the best,

Douglas.
