Title: Mauser Standard Model Info
Post by: coolhand05 on February 01, 2017, 04:39:36 PM
I am a new member of the Forum. I recently acquired a Standard Model Mauser. I believe it is a model 98. I tried unsuccessfully to attach some photos. The serial number is B74581 and is marked in all the appropriate places. The receive is stamped with crowns and the letters B,C,U,and N under crown marks. The rear sight bottom mount is part of the 23" barrel. I believe the stock is not original. It has a bakelite place stamped FAJER. What do I have ?? Thanks for any help.

You have what is referred to as a commercial Mauser or "Banner".  After the war, it was turned into a hunting rifle with the addition of the stock.  Value would be $350 to $400.  You couldn't post pictures because the file size was too large.
