Hi, as a shooter and collector I have several post WWII HSc pistols, but would like to collect the earlier 1914 pistol. Can you advise me on a good book to research the best collectible 1914.
Most books are for rifles.

Model HSC Pistol / Mauser HSC American Eagle Safety
« on: February 17, 2018, 11:25:23 AM »
Just noticed something that I thought was not right with my American Eagle .380 today, and wanted to make sure of the operation was safe. It could be that the safety is not working.

With the mag empty, and nothing in the chamber, I racked the slide, and this put the hammer in the cocked position. I then released the mag, which closed the slide. With the safety off, the hammed dropped, BUT, doing the same thing again, with the safety is the safe position (S showing), the hammer dropped.

Unless the fact that there was no round in the chamber caused this, it would appear that the safety may not be working.

Appreciate any feedback.

Model HSC Pistol / Mauser HSc Post War Production Surprised
« on: February 04, 2018, 06:20:57 PM »
Just recently found complete list of HSC Modern Production. Surprised to see that only 19,021 7.65’s
produced, inclouding 5,000 American Eagle 1977, and 44,097 .380’s, including 5,000 American Eagle.

While I have both calibers, I’m partial to 7.65. Much more enjoyable to shoot, and now feel it does not stress the pistol as much as .380.

My serial number is 00. 6801. It has wooden grips. Would that also be from 1970?

Model HSC Pistol / Mauser HSC Barrel Exchange
« on: February 03, 2018, 12:49:22 PM »
I have a Post War Mauser in .380. I would like to replace the barrel and shoot 32acp. I know that there are lock up issues with wartime barerel. Do all modern barrels have part of serial numbers on barrel lug to help distinguish?

Model HSC Pistol / HSC 32acp Disconnector
« on: January 21, 2018, 12:10:48 PM »
My 1970 HSC does not have a disconnector. Trigger bar held in place by slide and left grip. Is that a problem, or did later HSC not come with disconnector?

Thanks
