The Mauser Gewehr 98 Rifle
The ultimate bolt action rifle. With this model rifle, Paul Mauser perfected his bolt action that is still used in most every bolt action in use today. This rifle was adopted by the German military in 1898. The name "Gew" is short for Gewehr which stands for rifle, or infantry weapon. This rifle is very common, however many are in poor condition or don't have all matching
serial numbers due to arsenal refurbishing or field repairs. Models in excellent condition and matching serial numbers are in high demand. But good "shooter" examples of this rifle
can still be found at gun shows and gun shops for around the $200 mark or less.
