Mauser 66 Diplomat

I just acquired through a trade what I am told is a model 66 Diplomat in .243 serial #G162XX6. I’ve never seen one before and was intrigued by its craftsmanship. I’ve searched the net, with the exception of a helpful member on the S&W forum, I’ve surprisingly found little information.  Any information regarding the approximate manufacture date, where to find extra barrels, values, etc. would be greatly appreciated.
