Mauser HSc Magazine Safety
« on: February 08, 2021, 11:02:10 PM »

I have HSc Super 380 that has been a family heirloom, and to date the gun has been shooting great.  Then, last month at the range I had a 'dead' trigger.

I broke it down and it appeared that the magazine safety hook was catching on the trigger bar.

I replaced the magazine safety/ejector which appears identical to my old one and now the rearward locked slide will not release when a magazine is inserted.

It's clear the magazine is not pushing the magazine safety upwards which lowers the slide lock in the rear and clears the trigger bar all at the same time.

While holding the slide, I'm able to release the slide lock and let the slide move forward by lifting the tab on the magazine safety through the breach.

What I don't understand is why all of a sudden is the magazine not pushing high enough on this tab on the magazine safety for it to function correctly.  Any thoughts?

The magazine is seated tightly in the frame and even recessed .04 within the wood handles.

I appreciate any insight.  I've called several gunsmiths here in Austin and they of course don't work/know anything of a Mauser HSc.
