1940 HSc help
« on: November 06, 2022, 10:00:14 AM »
Good morning everyone one new to the forum and have a question about a pistol I picked up over the weekend. To start I got a Mauser HSc with serial number 714103 the barrel and slide are also marked 103. On the right hand side on the front of the trigger guard there is a sideways 8 or a B stamped on it. There is also on the right side behind the trigger guard is an eagle 655. And on the rear right above the palm swell near the hammer is the nazi eagle. On the left side of it behind the trigger guard is an eagle N. Also on the left are two other marks one looks like crossed swords with a Q2B and a crown with BNP.In doing some research it appears to be an early model with what I think is the large eagle 655 proof mark but I'm not sure and I don't have the expertise to really tell the difference between the two. I would like to know an approximate year and if it was a military issue or if it was the civilian model. Thanks in advance for any help

It is an early German military accepted example with British proof markings that were added later. Regards,
