Mauser Commercial Type S carbine

I have a Mauser Commercial Type S Carbine. It is chambered in 8 X 57 "NORM". It has the double square bridge and a SIDE THUMB SAFETY!
Anyone know about this rifle and caliber? How can I date this rifle? Serial # 1232xx. Any ideas as to value, it is excellent shape.
