Need help identifying rifle
(1/1)
razenhazen:
I have recently inherited this rifle from my father who found it in an attic he was cleaning out for a friend and it was crate packed and appeared new. He got a cheap stock put on it and had shot it less than 50 times over the years. He thought the bolt was messed up but I found the trigger to not reset unless the bolt is slammed and after some spray and working back and forth I have it working reliably. It has a 30-06 barrel which is curious to me. I have researched these rifles and found it very interesting however I could not find these markings. I would greatly appreciate any info that can be provided.
Sarge:
The rifle is a pre WW 2 Mauser. Could be a Mod 91, 93, 95 or less likely a Gew 98. What ever it is/was it has been rebarreled if it is now 30/06.

razenhazen:
Thanks sarge. After more research, I believe a mod98 becuase the bolt has the 3rd locking lug and cocks on open.
