HSc Question
« on: April 17, 2014, 02:23:11 PM »
I have a HSc that is in an older box with the serial number shown as 7362 and I was wondering when this gun was made. The box shows a Kal. of 7,65 but the barrel in the gun is a 9mm kurz, the operators manual is written in German and the parts brake down page in the book shows all parts the same but it shows 2 barrels, one a .32(7.65) and the other a .380(9mm kurz). Could the barrel have been changed by the past owner and would the rest of the gun been left without any changes because all is the same except the barrels. The magazines seem to work fine and I have loaded .32's and .380's in the magazine and they both seem to fit fine. Is this gun safe to shoot .380's if the original gun was manufactured to shoot .32's? The serial number on the box is the same number as the number on the gun.

Couple of questions first.  Is the serial number on the pistol 00.7362 or 01.7362?  Is the Barrel stamped "362"?

The number on the gun is 00  7362 and the number stamped on the bottom of the barrel is E356.

With the mismatched serial number on the Barrel you can be sure that it has been switched out by someone and is not how it was shipped from the factory.  All New Model HSc Magazines are made to handle both .32 and .380 caliber ammunition.

All parts for both calibers are the same except the Barrel and Recoil Spring.  If it doesn't load or eject properly you will need to change that Spring.  Hope all that helps.  Anything else, let me know.

What year do you think the gun was built? Where can I order another spring? The parts breakdown in the back of the owners manual only shows one spring but shows two barrels?

Your HSc was assembled in 1970.  Major parts were made in France by Manurhin and assembled in Germany at the Mauser factory.

You can get a replacement Recoil Spring from Wolff Gunsprings for $7.89:

I would try what you have before purchasing a replacement.

I forgot to mention that serial numbers beginning with "00" are .32 caliber and "01" are .380 caliber.
