Old Sarge:
My father brought one home back in '45. And, of course passed it on to me. He never really talked about the war, and, I lost him in '83. I know he got his first of two purple hearts on 12/21/44 in a St Vith, Belgium. He was with 1/23 AIB 7th Armored Division... Those in the know, know, what I am talking about. The Serial number is 900668, Mauser HSc. Does anybody know anything I can add to my "mix" to piece together his
"tour of duty", so to speak, as his records were destroyed in the fire in St Louis. Thank you...

Welcome to the forum, Sarge.  Unfortunately, tracing the ownership of your Late Wartime HSc is next to impossible.  The best we can do is tell you the date of manufacture and whether it is Army, Navy, or Police from the marking on the left side of the Trigger Guard.  Since you seem to know some of your father's units, you can probably find those unit histories on another website to determine what battles he was in.  I should also mention that soldiers often traded for war trophies in which case your HSc would have nothing to do with his history.

Just curious, but does this low serial number make this pistol a Low  Grip Screw model?

Not nearly low enough, LGS HSC 700000-701350.
