Need help - inherited a Mauser and cannot find info on it

Hello - new to the forum - Have what I believe is German Mauser 98 - marked DOU 43  - 22P - has a leather sling with it.  All serial numbers that I can see with the exception of the floor plate are the same 6779.  I was wondering how I go about telling what the caliber is and also what it may be worth.  I have no use for it and will be selling it. Looks to be in pretty good condition and the bore is excellent.  I also have a bayonet that came in a leather covered wooden sheath not sure if it goes with the gun but would appreciate any info and value  on it also if possible, it has a circle with 6 spokes in it and an L stamped on it.


  Any and all knowledge on these would be appreciated.
