stripper clip problem

Hey Guys, my wife bought me a c96 at an antique sale (yes she is a keeper).  It is definitely not a numbers matching gun but it is in pretty good shape.  I had it gone over by a company that does mausers and it shoots fine.  But the stripper clip will not go into the grove without holding back the bolt. this is needless to say a real pain in the ass. I wondered if the magazine follower was incorrect or worn or extractor piece  on tip of the bolt was incorrect.  Not knowing a damn thing about c96s I am hoping this is not the normal functioning of the gun.  your advice would be appreciated.  Atlanta

I have to pull the "bolt" back a little on mine, too, don't find it a problem. Hold the bolt with your left hand index and your middle finger, thumb on grip.
