1914 disassembly problem
« on: May 10, 2013, 06:53:53 PM »
:( When reassembling I couldn't get to slide to lock....Like an idiot I put the firing pin and spring in backwards and now after putting the slide back on I can't get it off.  It only moves about 1" forward.

Help!!!

Take off the grip and remove the magazine catch, then you may be able to remove the slide. Regards,

Thank you very much.   I'll keep that in mind the next time I lose my mind.

The firing pin sear had ridden backwards over the lower trigger link sear or what ever it is.  I was able to get a jeweler's screwdriver in a space between the slide and the top left of the trigger link; pry it down enough to move the firing pin sear back.   Then I was able to remove the slide and everything is OK now.
