Mauser HSC Serial number - year production?
uzifox:
Hi everyone,
I'm writing from Italy.
I have a MAUSER HSC with serial number 970544. Can you help me to date this gun?
Under, near the releasing button of magazine there is written the number "1027". What does it mean?
Thank for you help and best regards.
Marco
Warbird:
Hello, uzifox, and welcome to the forum. Your HSc was one of the last produced from the Mauser factory under French occupation and supervision after the war in May, 1946. The last number from June of that year was 971297. Many of this last group are serialized like your "1027." We believe this is a French Police serial number.
Hope that answers your questions. Anything else, let me know.

I think you have a pistol similar to the one I have. As warbird said, produced during French occupation, possibly used by the French police.
My gun has SN 969779 with police number 1213. It came with two additional magazines and in a red box, which shows the number 1213 too.

Alexander, just want to get your serial number right in the database. From your GunBoards post you said it was 969799. Here you list it as 969779. Which one is correct? Thanks!
Stucki:
You are a good observer.... :)
I have checked it's 969779 - sorry for the confusion
Alexander
