New Member - Strange pistol - Portuguese 1910???

Hello,
This is my first post. I received this pistol and its holster from a WW2 U.S. Army Artillery Capt. who took it off a dead WW2 German Artillery Capt. at the end of the war in Germany. It does not fit the standard Portuguese description according to the Pender book. It has the Portuguese triangle in the circle but no Mauser banner on left side, No "GERMANY" AND no "MAUSER-6.35 " on right side. What's up?????

I really appreciate your help identifying this little pocket pistol. I also need a nice magazine or 2 for it if anyone knows of one available.

First the circled triangle most likely has nothing to do with the Portuguese. A serial number will tell a lot about your pistol but pictures are even better and forget the story you were told and lets see what story the pistol itself tells.

Your 1910/14 was produced in the post WWI era. Many of these .25 caliber examples, from this period do not have the Mauser banner on the side plate and most early .25s were not stamped on the right side at all. Without pictures I cannot say if it is a 1910/14 new model or a 1910/14 post war standard as these models overlap during this period. I believe many were assembled from parts that were in inventory after the war. Some believe production of the .25 caliber halted during the last years of WWI and I tend to agree. Far too many .25 caliber pocket models are marked with the circled triangle for them all to have gone to Portugal. The actual meaning of the marking is not known. As far as I know it was a unsupported theory formed because Portuguese lugers have a similar marking.
