Has anyone knowledge of an HSc factory cutaway version of this fine pistol?

I only know of two, Jim.  There is a Low Grip Screw (701341) that was for sale 10 years ago for $10,000 (I took a pass on it back then but it still haunts me today) and an unmarked, unserialized Early Wartime piece with no blueing ("in the white") shown in the book.

Vlim may have seen one in the Oberndorf museum, we'll wait to see what he has to say.  On a separate note, both he and I have Cutaway New Models that we take great pride in ... so I can imagine how special a Wartime Cutaway would be in any collection.

Wow.  What an answer!  I did not realize any were out there.  Thank you for the informative details.  I still find the general gun community unversed in any knowledge of the HSc.  I go to gun shows and I might find one or two vendors that can talk about them in general terms but no one has ever seen a war era cutout.  As always, thank you for the good information.

The one in the museum is post war.
There is also a post war cutaway on display at the military museum in Koblenz.


I actually own 2 cutaways. One postwar HSc and one Renato Gamba double stack cutaway. Both were made to special order for the manager of Mauser who collected cutaways at the time.
