Mauser HSc 1942 disassembly

(1/2) > >>

dayware:
Hey there,
Just trying to disassemble the magazine for cleaning also inside but I cannot get off the magazine bottom. Was this meant to be taken off at all? Any idea how to do that?
Thanks a lot in advance for a feedback.
Cheers.....

Warbird:
Hello dayware.  Yes, the Magazine can be disassembled.  On the left side of the base, the Magazine Spring protrudes.  Push it up into the Magazine tube and, while holding it there, insert a flat-blade screwdriver in the rear space.  Gently pry the base forward and off.  If it does not move then soak it for a day or so with WD40 and try again.

dayware:
Hi Warbird,
Great, thank you so much, I made it  :) It was rusted a bit indeed....

jcorl:
I have a flat edge screwdriver that is just wide enough to fit into the mag bottom.  I barely put pressure on the base plate to see if I can break the base plate free.  I never apply too much pressure for fear of bending light ga. metal.  Leverage works wonders, but so does soaking that puppy like Warbird suggested.  Don't go overboard with the pressure.  That base will come off.  By all means don't bend anything.  The screwdriver trick is a last resort.

Good luck.

Jim

dayware:
Hey Jim,
After a little WD40 injection and slight leverage it came off.
It is definitely no good idea to put too much pressure on it. I guess this pistol was made to be field stripped and hence everything should work smoothly without any heavy force or tools. Nevertheless it is always good to know some tricks  :D
 Thanks for your tips......
