Title: A question on C96 stocks

I read somewhere that late production C96 pistol stocks did not have serial numbers. The stock that came with my dad's newly acquired pistol has no serial number. What puzzles me is his gun is NOT a late production gun, its serial number dates it to 1905.


Should his guns stock have a serial number?

The pistol is still at the FFL because my communist state requires a two week wait.


But I took some pictures of the stock.

The year of manufacture for serial number 853763 is 1932.   
 this was the date i came up with

You are correct! The serial number I was given was actually missing a digit. I should have looked closer at the serial number in the picture.

The stock appears to be a correct stock for the pistol and should not have a serial number stamped into the attaching iron. Regards,

Sadly, I've since discovered the stock is NOT correct for the gun. The stock itself is the machine-pistol stock that someone installed the original mount on. You can see they buggered up the screw installing the mount on the stock.

I discovered the stock to have cutouts for the fire selector switch and detachable magazine.

Our concern is that our gun no longer has a matching stock... something we paid quite a bit of money to get.

M30 stocks can never truly be considered "Matching" as they are not numbered. The only thing you can correctly state is that they are a "correct stock for the pistol".


Yes, a Schnell stock has a higher value, to the right buyer, than a similar condition M30 stock. Regards,
