Model HSC Pistol / High Polish HSc E/135

I was presented with HSc serial number 744814 with E/135 yesterday at the Kansas City Gunshow.  It certainly looked like it was high polished, high gloss factory finish.  Was this number suppose to have early war, high polish finish?

Hope to see some of you at the gunshow in KC this Friday, Saturday and Sunday.  I will be next to the guy with the gigantic Luger banner stretched to the ceiling.

General Discussion / Re: Odd Gun, But Not Mauser
« on: July 22, 2013, 09:45:48 AM »
Great insight and fine comment.  Thank you very much.  The serial number #2856 is black with white grips.  It is a stunner of a looker.  The plated #6229 is missing it's rear sight.  The guns are knock out eye poppers, but for my size 7 hand they are almost a two handed job for me to hold.  I guess I better stick with my HScs.   Thanks again for your comments.  They are appreciated.

Just saw them and more importantly picked them up.  What a beautiful gun, but that ultra light weight perplexed me.  My size 7 hand could only reach the trigger by the tip of my finger.  I have mixed feeling about it, now that I have had one in my hand.  It would have to be a wall hanger at my house.

Thanks for your input.

I am looking at three of them today, but can only afford one.  There is the first variation without logo, standard variation and then the factory plated variation with the nice white grips.  Which variation is most sought after?

Thanks,

You are welcome.  Hope that is of some assistance.

Post Note:  The former owner of this very nice holster died last week.  He was a great friend to all HSc collectors.  He will be missed by many of us on this forum.

Model HSC Pistol / Re: E/L E/F Numbered Magazines

I would raise the question as to the commonality of finding two magazines without the denotation of a "+" or "1" or "2".  Is it routine to locate identical twins or is that spare mag usually identified in some manner, so the shooter or his police partner in a gunfight can quickly have feedback on his ammo situation?

I have HSc police "L" serial number 857655 with the complete serial number on plain bottom mag plus complete serial number stampled on the police E/B holster.  My magazine is marked "2" as the second or spare mag.  I see these have no such markings or holster.

Has anyone had experience with a circa 1953 Whitney Wolverine pistol?   I would be interested in your observations.

I have a 1942 year stamped, police Eagle B Stamped holster, manufacture stamped Schambach & Co, Berlin in brown color acquired thru Rock Island Auction Company.  It was high because of its condition. but that would be a super correct fit for your 1942 HSc Police L.

Gebirg,

I don't know if you noticed, but your "frame stop" is 16 cm long on your older variation #703857 and 14 cm long on your #904050.   Your good photos show a difference in length in this aspect of variation design.  Thanks for posting a side by side.  I had never measured mine until I saw your examples.
