I think its mainly caused by the fact that Mauser had evacuated and stored its museum collection off site. This collection was largely looted by French forces.

There is a short period of time in april, 1945 where the confusion between the fall of the Reich and the arrival of the French forces in Oberndorf created the opportunity to get things out of the factory without much problems.

You see sloppy work on WaA markings, then a number of numbered but unproofed pistols before the French restore order and production under French supervision begins.

So a few guns leaving the factory through the back door is not strange given the extra ordinary circumstances.

Close to my 951740, which has neither commercial proofs, nor military or French markings.

Model 80SA / 90DA Pistol / Re: Serial ranges, current status
« on: August 11, 2019, 02:33:33 PM »
Serial 90002256 has surfaced and has some properties not found on later versions. Another one in the 2800 range shares its features.

No Hungarian 1991 proof but a 1990 German proof.

No mod. 90 DA model designation on the slide.

This effectively means that the DA 90 exists in at least 2 different variations. Looks like the first batch of about 5000 guns differed from later standard production.

Model 1914 Pistol / Military marked holster
« on: August 07, 2019, 10:46:44 AM »
Found this holster locally:

Upon arrival I found both a Bekleidungsamt XI marking and a makers marking from F. Bierenbreier from Kehl.

Will go nicely with a military marked Mauser 1914 I have.

This one is as factory as it can be.

It closely follows a known factory design, so I would identify it as a factory engraved example.

.32 with 9mmK barrel as extra.
With box and papers. Extra mag is marked '9mm' by hand.

1976 proof date on gun and 9mmK barrel.
Grips have more volume than the standard ones, grip screws are also engraved.

Serial 00.17500

Difficult. The gun has been killed/deactivated and funny enough that increases the value in the EU these days.

I think around 1000 to 1200.

Model 1910 Pistol / DWM ammo box

Found this nice old DWM .25 auto box. It specifically refers to the Mauser automatic pistol, should be ca. 1911.
