Yes, they are not encountered on pre-april 1945 production pistols.

Model HSC Pistol / Re: Mauser HSc .380
« on: August 03, 2021, 07:20:42 PM »
It was made in 1970.

The .380 round is a bit too much for the pistol design. They worked better in .32. So the noticable recoil is part of the package.

I don't think you will hurt the value be having it relined.

C96 / C12 Broomhandle / Re: laynard ring , how to put one on?
« on: June 17, 2021, 08:49:23 AM »
I would be careful when saying one ring is genuine and the other isn't.

Mauser apparantly did not manufacture the rings themselves but purchased them from an external source.

I think it reads WaA135 under the Eagle. Which would make it an army accepted version.

Model HSC Pistol / Alan D. Burnham (Warbird)
« on: May 21, 2021, 08:45:01 PM »
With sadness I have to report that fellow forum member and Mauser HSc guru Alan Burnham passed away.

He was known under the forum name 'Warbird'.

I was fortunate to be able to print and publish his wonderful HSc book in Europe (written with his co-author Peter Theodore).Trying to get in touch to discuss a new printing run and found out he had passed away late 2020.

Model HSC Pistol / Re: Question about s/n
« on: April 25, 2021, 01:39:53 PM »
The Eagle/N is the standard German post war proof marking that was used until a few years ago. It was replaced by a 'CIP/N' proof not too long ago.

The frame should have a date code consisting of 2 letters together with the Eagle/N and the Ulm proofhouse antler.

The barrel has the last 3 digits of the serial number underneath,  if the gun is all matching.

Mauser used the FBM proof for exports to the US (Interarms). But local sales required the Eagle/N proof.

A wartime Mauser barrel would have the Eagle/N as the spread wing version. It is not impossible to find a wartime barrel installed on a post war HSc, as they are easily swapped.

Do you have a link?

If the serial number is known, I may be able to authenticate it.

Jhg is the coded name of the holster maker.
Nothing to do with Göring's initials.

There is no way to trace back the number. So without a decent paper trail it will be impossible to attribute it to him.

Patrone is German for Cartridge.
Not a model name.

General Discussion / Re: New book on Paul Mauser
« on: December 06, 2020, 08:38:26 AM »
Hi Brian,

Yes, the luxury versions are sold out. But the standard version is also of a nice, hardbound, quality with dust jacket in gold print.

Distribution in the US is handled by Simpson Ltd.
I haven't seen any of your mails come in at paulmauser@kpnmail.nl.

If you want to order in Europe, send me a private message with your contact info and I will quote with shipping.

The book is heavy, 2.5kg in total, so shipping within the EU is usually not that cheap.

For EU customers we have an end of season offer of €75,00 at the moment. Shipping is quoted at request, as the costs vary from location to location.

The 1914 actually had a serial numbered magazine, to another pistol, in it.
