Title: Mauser 1914

My mauser has a grooved out on the right side and was wondering why and what mite have been there

I am not sure what you are describing, possibly the milled panel above the grip? A picture would be most helpful. Regards,

It's is right above the grips,not sure how to add a picture

The milled panel above the grip on the right side was only on the early, WWI and before, .32 model variations. I believe the intention of these milled panels were to remove material to make the pistol lighter in weight. It was sometimes used for marking by police agencies. The panel was discontinued on post WWI examples I would think it was found to not be worth the effort. Regards,
