C96 / C12 Broomhandle / Re: Tempering safety lever

Thanks for the reply.  As stated, I'm on my third safety lever on this pistol... and I hesitate to actuate it.  So it's there in the firing position and I'm not going to move it!

Thanks again...

C96 / C12 Broomhandle / Tempering safety lever
« on: June 22, 2023, 02:28:49 PM »
I've had two safety levers on my C96 crack due to, I assume, the age of the metal.  I have another safety lever ready to install.  Has any one had any experience tempering, with heat, the lever? I think it would be necessary to re-heat the steel after hardening in order to give it a "spring" quality.
Any answers would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance...

C96 / C12 Broomhandle / Safety lever differences

What would be the difference between the Type 1 and Type 2 safety levers?  Would they be interchangeable?

The sear arm broke at the point where the hammer contacts the surface of the sear arm.  After purchasing a "new" sear arm, the sear would not come in contact with the trigger extension.  The use of JB Weld extending the surface of the sear so that it would contact the trigger extension seems to correct the problem.  At least now the hammer drops when I pull the trigger.  I'll be taking it to the range soon to check it out.  It's interesting how useful JB Weld can be.  I also used it to lighten the trigger pull of a Luger as well.
