what is the safe way to remove the splip-base type floor plate from the 1910 magazine body base? It looks just to be spring/friction held in place?

With the "new" original magazine working properly, I took a couple hundred reloads to my range for the Rolling Target and unknown range Snap Shoot practice match.Firing the 1910 pistol in .25 ACP ( 6.35mm) could not be more fun. Recoil is nil and rapid firing is very easy to do. Accuracy is not an issue as the pistol is very accurate.My tire launcher is a 12 foot trough on 8 foot high legs. A paper target in placed inside an old bias-ply tire and the tire is remotely launched from a safe distance.
The tire passes right to left in front of the shooter at 15 yards at the speed of a running man. A firing "lane" is marked out ...stop/start, the shooter has five seconds to fire six shots.The little Mauser did very well indeed. It was made to shoot fast and accurately!I then engaged the 25 yard paper man target and emptied the magazine of seven shots as fast as I could. I pulled one shot t othe left of center but the rest went into the COM.My hand loads at 7,000 feet ASL at the range are right at 1,000 FPS using Bullseye and Unique powder ( Unique filling the little case a 1.6 grains). No FTF ot FTE noted. Brass does fly away farther than you'd think.I really like the little pistol. I wish I had bought one decades ago.

I test fired the pistol into my bullet trap and it worked as it should. The recovered bullets are well engraved with the rifling and sealed the bore well.The pistol is accurate and will be shot in my clubs match this Saturday at a moving target.The fired bullets "mike" out to .247 average.

I'll disassemble the pistol tomorrow night and photograph the slide latch and compare it to yours so you can see if it is bent.

Any semi-auto pistol of the older generations can have this sort of problems with the magazines spring or the feed lips.If the round is stripped from the mag too soon it will stove pipe. If too late it may "nose dive"A FTE can be caused by a too strong recoil spring causing a Short Stroke. A weak wrist hold on the pistol can also cause this.These pistols were designed to shoot a military loading of the cartridge. A lighter or heavier bullet can sometimes cause a problem as well.A "Lawyer-Load" will cause problems due to their weakness.Lugers come to mind as they need the heavier 124 grain bullet at German specs in order to prevent stove piping problems. Their mag springs are very strong and Luger holsters carried a loading tool to overcome the much stronger mag springs force.

I just bought a like new 1910/14 made from serial number and year quantities in 1923.It was sold to me with the original magazine missing.A Triple-k mag was included and of course it is too short and does not work at all. It will not trip the slide release/magazine safety.Looking for an original I see the shysters are asking 200 bucks or more for an original magazine.Are there any alternatives that are more back-to-earth on pricing that work?Thank you for any info.
