Model HSC Pistol / Re: Firing the Eagle F
« on: August 16, 2014, 05:48:18 PM »
Murton,

You could not pay me enough money to fire my HSc "F".  Your gun by it's photos is far more of a collectable grade than a shooter grade.  I am happy it fired well for you, but they only made a few of these.  They may not break easy, but they do show wear and usage when fired.  Just an idea and food for thought.

Jim

I understand where your coming from! As I have had collectable guns in the past, go south on me when shooting them.

Years ago I had a post war rework P 38 break it's locking block, when I was shooting it. I had a devil of a time just getting it apart. To replace the locking block. Contacted Warren Buxton re the locking block. Wound up sending it to him. As I recall, he told me it was probably made, (the locking block), in post 1945 Czechoslovakia. And wasn't heat treated correctly.

When I first acquired it, was full of grease internally. It appeared to haven't to fired in years, if at all. Since being brought back to the States in the 40's. Cleaned out all the crud, and lubed it with Remoil.

The local farm store just got in shipment of Aguila .32 ACP's. (They told me that they haven't had any .32's, for ages.).

Took it out to the forest yesterday. Had to shoot at 7 yds, As the front sight is all but invisible at longer ranges. Ran two full mags of the Aguila's through it. Perfect function. Accuracy was also excellent. Considering the front sight is all but invisible.

More photos for you.

Other than the abrasion and "notches"? on yours. I can't identify the difference(s), you mentioned in the previous post?

Can't tell if the third digit is an 8 or 9 could you post the serial as the picture is somewhat fuzzy.

Murton,

Your remark about "panties" could be viewed by some in the forum as non-caring.  I have learned that some serial number ranges in the police "F" were given a fast or very short bluing dip resulting in a light or straw like finish.  Others in a different serial number range were much darker and for sure a true deep military blue factory finish.  Details are important to piece together the history of these examples.  Please appreciate our interest or at least my interest in the search for knowledge of these Mausers.

Jim

I don't like folks, "leaning" on me. In retrospect, I should have noted. That it's in the range that Jan Still used for the Eagle F HSC's, in his research. And left it there.

The serial range for for Eagle F.  Jan Still gives it as: 946120-948703. I don't know if it's been expanded either way.  I also don't know if the OP 's HSc Eagle F falls with this range.  Please provide you full serial number.

How do you tell the difference between the real McCoy ejo grips, and the current European repos?

Those grips don't look like my ejo grips.  Can you photo the inside to see, if they are repros? I like the example!!! Should have the late war, indent mag to be correct, not a flat bottom mag.

Jim

Got the grips off, without buggering up the slots in the screws. The right grip is marked inside, "ejo 2229 1". Left, "ejo 2228 2". There is also a unknown marking that appears to trademark next to the numbers? I'll break out the camera tomorrow, to get the photos, you requested.

My lord! $1650.00. I guess I screwed the pooch. Even if this one, is in way better shape.  It's been a long time, but as I recall the asking price was around $250.00 I thought that was ridiculous, considering the condition.

There is a half-moon shaped notch in the front of the magazine floorplate. Can't get the grips off until I can get the correct screwdriver. The cut/notch in the screws, are much smaller than U.S. made screws.

At a local show awhile back, stumbled across one of these. I knew that it was out of the ordinary, but couldn't put it together at first. WTP's have never been common, where I reside. The lack of German proof marks, finally jogged my memory. And I realized what it was. Thought about it, but between the pitting and price decided against it.

The pitting and general wear, suggested to me that it was carried in someones pocket for personal protection for quite awhile.

Model 80SA / 90DA Pistol / Mauser Pistols, made by Fegyver in Hungary.
« on: August 03, 2014, 09:40:40 PM »
Not sure if this is the correct forum?

Fegyver the Hungarian pistol manufacturer. Prior to them abandoning the manufacturer of handguns. Made at least one run of their pistols, to be sold under the Mauser name. I don't know if these guns were actually authorized by Mauser? Or if Fegyver just put spurious Mauser markings on them? In the past Fegyver has done this with their pistols, made for sale in 3rd world countries.

Two Fegyver Models are know with Mauser markings.

#1, FP9, ( Copy of High Powder), Sold as the Mauser Model 80SA

#2, P9R,  ( S & W double action clone ), Sold as the Mauser Model 90DA
