Ckeck the side plate (inside the trigger guard and pull the slide back 1/4 " to see serial number on front barrel lug on left side. In these locations are partial serial numbers (the last 3 or 4 digits of the number).

Look for Matching numbers, correct split or T-tail magazine base. The holster could be from WWI era, look for markings. Value, I just sold an Imperial marked 1914 for $550 w/o holster so there is some idea on that. It looks nice and if it has the Imperial marking in front of thhe rear sight it is an early Imperial. Lubing the striker channel is a good idea. Moving parts and all but no more than a light coat of oil on all metal parts is necessary. Removing the grips will not cause any parts to fall free. Regards,

Grips are for a 1934. The serial numbered magazine indicates police use. The gun is a less common variation with a 1914 2 line "WAFFENFABRIK MAUSER...." address and "Cal-7,65" on the right side of the slide. These ocour in the 466,000 serial number range. Regards,

It could be because of an aftermarket magazine, it could be assembled wrong or missing parts. There are to many possibalities to trouble shoot gunsmith problems on a forum and the magazine catch varies and is hard to find. You can make one from a .32 catch but the top opreates the hold open and may not work properly. You are not getting responces because there aren't simple answers. Regards,

You are correct. It is a 1914 Standard post WWI variation made in the mid 1920s. It is one of the two most common variations of the 1914 model. Regards,

It is actualy what I call a 1910/14 standard model the variation that followed the New model. Your best bet is to buy an original 1910/14 magazine off GunBroker. Any .25 caliber magazine except a Sidelatch magazine should work. It will cost you $100+ but IMHO it is worth it to have a functioning magazine. Regards,

No and no. The only way to release the striker/firing pin is on an empty chamber except when firing it, unless you use a snap cap. Any factory loaded ammunition is safe to fire as long as the pistol is safe to fire. Regards,
