Model HSC Pistol / Re: eagle f

The wooden grips are different than my wooden grips.  Interesting?  The factory did not number the mags.  That is why you will find different locations on the mags for the serial numbers.  Mine is on the baseplate like Legacy's.  I have seen others on the mag body.  Warbird is the pro on this subject and he has seen far more examples than me.  I know of an example of a phosphate "F", so the HSc is filled with great examples and history.

Could not make informed decisions without this wonderful resource.  My thanks and gratitude to the author.

Model HSC Pistol / Re: Questions on early phosphate HSCs

I also saw the early demonstrator phosphate HSc on Gunbroker and was anxious to see what it brought.  It lasted only a few hours on the site and was pulled for some reason.

I wanted to see, if I paid too much more mine.  Probably did.  Oh well, I like it.

That helps Warbird.  I just have a hard head.  It just needs to be driven home a little.  Thanks for the clarification.  Personal pocket pistol does make a good explanation as an exception to the front line rule.  I appreciate the help in wrapping my head around the concept.  Many thanks.     Jim

Not so sure about that.  59,839 went to the commercial market, while 135,000 went to the army plus another 27,100 went to the Navy.  Another 30,000 went to police units.  Those numbers don't look like it was marketed as a primarily commercial weapon.  If it was designed for the commercial market, then why did the military put their acceptance stamp on it?  The commercial market, as I understand it, was the officer's rank and other higher rank officials that were allowed to purchase this military weapon.

Just some food for thought on this issue.

OK.  I am officially confused.  That does not take much, I might add.  If there was no acceptance agreement in place on the HSc, then why would there be Heer acceptance stamps on the HSc?  (to include the military test proof or ATP, in early examples)

Just asking.

The Mauser Logo did change on the HSc during the war years.  There is the first format slide marking style, then a second format slide marking style that started in 1943.

Thanks GT,

I thought it was a "gotta have" example of an odd police"

I look at allot of HScs and P-38s on a frequent basis.  Perhaps it is the greater number of P.38 that were produced, than the HSc, but comparative speaking I think the broken die stamp on the HSc may be a little bigger deal than the broken die stamp on a P.38.   Don't get me wrong as I love the P.38s and have a "date added" in my collection; however, I like my broken die HSc police way more.  I think they are uncommon, which puts them in a unique catagory in my book.  If anyone else has a broken die HSc, I would enjoy hearing about it.    If it unique enough, I will trade my "date added" for it.

No "K" on any police, HSc that I am aware of.  Just the "L" and the late war "F" examples.   Pretty sure I am correct.

Duster,  Am I missing something?  Where were you in 1969? I was in 51A as a O5Bravo20.  Perhaps we had a beer together?

I believe Legacy, as an honorable vendor, has an inspection period with return policy.  Perhaps Duster decided to return the pistol for some reason.

A "K" example is not a police and I enjoy the police examples much more.  Unless you are talking about a "K" LGS, then all bets are off.  I reserve the right to change my mind on that one.   Thanks for participating.
