Model 1910 Pistol / Auction Coming Up
« on: October 08, 2014, 03:04:35 PM »
Is there anything special about this cute little .25 cal. Mauser?  Auction is coming up and so far the bidding is weak on it.  I had my .25 stolen many years ago and would not regret replacing it with a Mauser .25.  The description indicates the grip is split in the rear.   I will attempt to attach photo from auction.

Thank you,

Jim

Model HSC Pistol / Overstamped Serial Number
« on: September 30, 2014, 11:44:09 AM »
There is a 1940-1941 era commercial HSc on gunbroker for sale.  The mag appears to be incorrect, but that is another matter.  The barrel's serial number appears to have been over stamped to force a match.  (not a very good job of it, in fact)  I would take the position that this action produces a shooter grade example and not a collectable.  Would I be wrong in that assumption?

General Mauser Rifle Questions / Model 1912 Mauser
« on: August 13, 2014, 10:10:53 AM »
An auction site has a Chilean Steyr Mauser on it that is marked on the barrel, " M12 308 Germany".  It is advertised in the write up as an 8MM Mauser, Model 1912.  It is C. I. A. Import marked on the barrel.  Can anyone confirm for me that this is an 8MM or possibly .308 (rechambered).  I am not sure what the 308 equates to on the barrel.

Thank you for any assistance.

Model 1910 Pistol / 1910 Holster Perhaps
« on: July 29, 2014, 09:20:09 AM »
There is a drop style holster on Ebay that the seller tells is associated with a Mauser 1910.  You are welcome to take a look at it and express your take on this item.  I enjoy drop holsters, but this one is new to me. After looking at it, I think it is a duty holster that has been modified. Perhaps 1950s vintage.  That US car swivel style makes me think it is US manufactured for law enforcement duty.

Model 1910 Pistol / Values
« on: July 22, 2014, 12:29:35 PM »
Just stumbled upon a Mauser 1910 listing in Guns International for a Model 1910, 25 Cal.  The seller rates it's condition at 75% and publishes a partial serial number of 2593??.  I think it is asking $225.00 for the example.  I have no idea, if this is market value or full retail or bargain pricing.  Any input would be appreciated on its value.

Has anyone seen or purchased an HSc with an attached lanyard that looks to be period correct?

General Discussion / Mauser Sold
« on: May 12, 2014, 01:20:55 PM »
It was just announced today.  Mauser has been sold for 1.7B.  Maybe we can get some guns made now.  (Correction, as they say in the Army, "As You Were") Just learned to my great disappointment, that the arms operation is not part of the sale as it is not even related to the current day packaging company.  In fact, it is not even a division or related to any larger Mauser Company entity.    My apologies for the false excitement and incorrect information.  I will be scraping egg off my face.   :-[

For those of you old enough to remember, there use to be a show on TV called "Name that tune?".   This will be my version.  Name this acceptance stamp.

Mauser Lugers / 1939 S/42
« on: October 03, 2013, 04:55:25 PM »
I was approached to buy an early 1939, S/42.  It was quoted as showing light handling on original finish with nearly original straw part's finish, as well as, being an all matching numbered gun with drop dead, lovely conditioned grips. No mention of the mag, but I assume it is not numbered to the gun.  I have attempted to do some research on this model and find it a bonus to have fine quality straw part's finish.  I also have learned that this is not that rare of an S/42 example.  What should I be looking for, when I inspect this gun?  I own no Lugers.

A trusted dealer in Lugers only is holding it for my inspection.  He tells me, if I do not buy it, then he will.   Your comments are appreciated.

Model HSC Pistol / Un-numbered Examples
« on: August 20, 2013, 12:23:57 PM »
Gentlemen,  You may notice from time to time that sellers advertise late model HScs and other models without any serial numbers on them.   They note that they have been "lunched box" out of the factory and I am sure that story has merit.  The question I have, is how can these examples be legally sold? I placed a call into the BATF and a very nice young lady at their HQ offices told me they could not be transferred under my C&R license nor under an FFL1 license.  Am I missing something here?

Model HSC Pistol / High Polish HSc E/135
« on: July 28, 2013, 03:34:13 PM »
I was presented with HSc serial number 744814 with E/135 yesterday at the Kansas City Gunshow.  It certainly looked like it was high polished, high gloss factory finish.  Was this number suppose to have early war, high polish finish?

General Discussion / Odd Gun, But Not Mauser

Has anyone had experience with a circa 1953 Whitney Wolverine pistol?   I would be interested in your observations.

Regards,
