Model HSC Pistol / Late Phosphate HSc
« on: August 11, 2019, 04:03:54 PM »
Thought I'd post some pics of a late phosphate HSc I picked up on GunBroker a few months ago. I had never seen one for sale that I could afford so I took the chance hoping all was well and the grips were original. The grips were not. The rest of the gun seems fine. Not the nicest finish on the outside but good under the slide. Matching barrel with mint bore. No partial number on slide. Proper test fire proofs on the front of slide as well as on the right side of trigger guard. No acceptance mark on the left side of trigger guard. With the very late serial number of 951246 I'm thinking this HSc was assembled after the French occupation of the Mauser plant using surplus parts. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Also was wondering if this number is in the data base.

Model HSC Pistol / HSc magazine question
« on: May 27, 2019, 04:22:05 PM »
Went to a gun show this weekend looking for a pair of original plastic grips (you never know). All I found of any interest was this plain floorplate wartime magazine. Notice the cutout on the housing. Under magnification it shows to have been drilled and hand filed to produce the flat top. Does anybody have any ideas as to why this was done. It doesn't effect function but made it a parts magazine as far as collecting. Paid $30 for it.

Model 1910 Pistol / #1 on 1910/14
« on: March 11, 2018, 01:06:34 PM »
I picked up a common 1910/1914 6.35mm the other day just because it had not been messed with and it looked pretty clean. All matching numbers, nice grip, good bore, functioned well. When I was stripping it down for a good cleaning I noticed on the left side, on the back of the trigger guard there was a #1 that I had not seen. I never looked for a number here before on these guns. Dug out my Roy Pender book, looked around online. Nothing. Unit marking? Any ideas?

Model HSC Pistol / HSc slide function question
« on: February 17, 2018, 05:27:13 PM »
I have a peak wartime HSc that the slide will not hold open when I remove the empty magazine. I have tried other magazines that work perfectly in other HSc's but no luck, with the exception of one late war magazine I have with a stamped follower. It works flawlessly, and the slide stays open every time. I would use it except this era pistol is supposed to have a machined follower and I want the gun correct. I have seen the slide dropping problem on a few HSc's. I have tried swapping followers, springs, housings, the works. I'm stumped on this one. Does anyone know what the problem is? And what's the cure? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Model 1910 Pistol / What model 1910 do I have?
« on: October 29, 2017, 05:20:51 PM »
I recently picked up a 1910 6.35mm, serial number 399,601. It has a curved black plastic grip. The serial numbers all match but are hidden on the back of the sideplate (not showing above the trigger), and on the left side of the frame under the grip (not on the rear of the frame). The magazine is blued and has 9 holes on the left side with a round front floor plate and Mauser stamped. In a post on page 2 of 1910 Mauser posts, Dec. 30,2013, vlim talks about his 1910/34 and the reuniting of the magazine. Our guns are only 161 apart and look identical. When I research my gun in my Roy Pender book, my serial number falls in the range of a late post war commercial model. According to the book it should have a straight checkered wood grip. Has someone replaced the grip on mine with a  plastic one to make it look like a 1910/34? Pender states that curved grips started around serial#403361 on 6.35mm. Seeing vlim's post has me confused. Two of the same configurations so close together but not in the correct serial# range to be 1910/34. What's up? Is mine a 1910 or 1910/34? Any help would be appreciated.

Mauser P38 Pistol / Russian dipped P38's
« on: January 18, 2017, 07:39:20 PM »
How do you know if a P38 has been Russian dipped? I have read that some were stamped with an X and some were not. Also was wondering about the cut grips. Is there a noticeable cut line? Any information would be appreciated.

Model HSC Pistol / HSc barrel question
« on: October 29, 2016, 03:47:02 PM »
I just found and purchased a very nice HSc early war Eagle/135. Before the purchase I checked the serial #'s and found that the slide and frame match, but the barrel has no number, it is also missing the Eagle/N proof mark on the side of the chamber. But it does have the WR inspection mark. The seller said he has had the gun for years and that the gun has had this barrel since he has owned it.  I know I will never be able to find a matching numbered barrel for it, but the gun was too nice to pass up and the price was right. The gun chambers and functions flawlessly. Does anyone know where this barrel may have come from? Factory error? Original inventory replacement part? Any help would be appreciated.
