I actually have 3 Mauser Rifles, 2 Mod 98 and 1 6.5 Swede.
This question is on one of the 98s, it has 655/655/655 marks on the right side of the receiver, I believe this puts the Manufacture in 1941 at Mauser AG Oberndorf... If anyone has more information, PLEASE let me know. This was an American capture, all serial numbers match (6394).
My Dad sporterized it beautifully and it's now a 30.06. It sat in my closet for several years, but I took it to the range yesterday, and had less than 1" groups at 100 yds. What a rifle! I can post pics later, if anyone is interested.

Welcome to the forum, ganpar! Can't help you on rifles but historically Army Waffenamt Inspector 63 was replaced in 1940 by Inspector 655. He was then replaced in 1941 by Inspector 135 who stayed at Mauser until the end of WWII. So your rifle had to be produced between 1940 and 1941 with those Army Acceptance Marks. Hope that helps.
