General Mauser Rifle Questions / 1944 BYF 98K with non-Germodifications
« on: December 11, 2022, 11:18:32 AM »
I have a 1944 BYF 98k SN 49XXX ; The barreled action is all matching with no letter series stamp. The problems with this rifle are:
stock has no numbers or markings and is not visibly sanded or modified
barrel bands are " later" than the SN would indicate
floor plate/trigger guard assembly are marked BYF with no SN and are the " later" stamped issue
This rifle has the ZF41 base which definitely appears original and is mounted with a definitely original ZF41/1 scope .
Question to the membership---- are these modifications what I think they are, "kitchen table" , or is there any legitimate reason to
think they could have been done pre 1946. Many thanks in advance for your comments,
