Greetings. This came to me by way of an estate. I know it has been extensively re-worked and isn't worth nearly as much as an unmodded original. They even cleaned up some of the production machine marks. But I'm trying to determine what the original model and sequence was, and possibly who did the work. Is this an Oyster Bay rework?
SN 8308XX, matches on upper and lower, does not match on baseplate.

It is an early M1930 model and was most likely imported from China in the late 1970s to early 1980s and then reworked by Oyster bay or whom ever imported it. The import mark will tell you.

There is no import mark. I've looked everywhere it might be to meet ATF requirements.

It may of gotten by unstamped or the marking removed during refinishing. There is little doubt that it is one of the Chinese imports.

Can you tell me what your conclusion is based on?

It is reasonable to assume Chinese import because of the time the gun was made (based on seral number), the condition (major refinishing), and the mixed parts all say that. If the gun was not an China export/import you would expect matching parts and never refinished, since that reduced its value as a collector. These are guesses but very informed ones.
I expect the original caliber was 7.63, can you tell if the barrel was relined? Also check under the grips for rust and see if the grips have a number as well.
Can't say this enough, if you plan to shoot it (and I hope you do) be sure to replace the springs!

It's rusty under the grips, and the grips only have some guy's scratched initials.
The barrel doesn't appear relined and has "9mm parabellum" in Fraktur font. It does not appear to be a replacement.
The proof marks exactly match my German hunting guns from 1910s-1930s, so I'm assuming those are original civilian proofs.
Do you know where import marks are supposed to be?

My M30 is a re-import from China (you can see it my first post) with no refinishing at all and I never found import marks.
Edit: I see some references in other forums to "GA" import marks on the sides of the guns by the Mauser name. You might find some decent pictures if you join the forms and search. But can't find them on mine.

Where are import marks on your pistol located?

Experience. Import marks are in various locations. Under the barrel, in the milled side panels, the grip strap, etc... It varies with the importer.

i only bought spare parts from kengs all 13 brooms i own have no import marks. but i have seen kengs c96 at gun shows they where marked under barrel

The news is that the inside is remarkably clean, so I'm wondering why so much outside finish was done. And under the grips is a rusted mess.
No signs of any import marks anywhere.
I'll definitely replace all the springs before shooting.
