General Mauser Rifle Questions / Unknown Mauser
« on: February 11, 2015, 04:38:51 PM »
I am new to this forum and would like some information about a Mauser that I recently acquired.

I'll start with the marking and then add some description.

1.) On the right front of the barrel there are two lines of text. The first reads M 4 BELGIAN and the second reads CAI ST ALB VT

2.) On the top of the barrel near the action there is a small crown symbol.

3.) On the left side of the action forward of the bolt there are two lines of text. The first reads R. FAMAGE and the second reads 1952.

4.) On the right side of the action forward of the bolt it reads F. 12197.

5.) On the top of the action rear of the bolt it reads .30.

6.) On the rear of the saftey it reads Buehler.

7.) The barrel length is approx. 21-3/16", the end has been chamfered and the overall length is approx. 42-1/2".

8.) The stock appears to have altered.

9.) The butt plate appears to have been changed from metal to rubber.

10.) The bolt has handle has been altered.

11.) The rear sling attachment has been removed but mounting holes are still evident and its located about half way between the pistol grip and the butt.

12.) The trigger guard has a hole forward of the trigger, the locking screws are forward of the action screws and it has a flush mag plate that has to be removed with a tool.

13.) The bolt has three locking lobes.

Please leave question and comments. The more the merrier.

Thanks!
