I am not here to argue. I would suggest posting your pictures on Jan Still's luger forum (Jan C. Still Lugerforums) if you want more opinions. It is not a typical, re-lined, M-30, Chinese import. I am saying it was made in China, a copy. Chinese copies are in a wide range of quality from poor to excellent. I am only telling you what I see.

First, please pardon the messenger. I am fairly certain you have a Chinese copy of a Mauser C96 and I think they were using a Red-9 as a model. The tells are as follows: the dovetail front sight, the crude machining in the milled panels & the grip checkering. I hope you did not pay too much. These Chinese copies are a special market and usually less than half the value of an original.

So you are looking for a striker (firing pin) and a sear?
I think I have both. I will check and let you know. What is the best way to contact you? e-mail address? Phone number?

Model HSC Pistol / Re: HSc mauser

It is extremely unlikely that it belonged to Goering. It is not uncommon to have this kind of story made up about a souvenir bring back. If you don't have some documentation to proof the claim it is most likely that none exist. So what you have is a Mauser HSC. Please pardon the messenger.

William, it is very difficult if not impossible to diagnose and resolve mechanical issues via this type of communication. I would strongly suggest trying to find a competent gunsmith in your area or you may find it necessary to send your pistol to someone familiar with C96s. If your Red-9 is in collectable condition its value warrants it being handled by someone who knows what they are doing. Regards,

General Mauser Rifle Questions / Re: Mauser Single Shot "Patrone"
« on: January 20, 2021, 07:14:08 AM »
Ken, Mauser made several different models of single shot .22 rifles. You may want to start your search by identifying which model you have so if someone has a bolt you can determine if it will fit your rifle. Regards,

The milled panel above the grip on the right side was only on the early, WWI and before, .32 model variations. I believe the intention of these milled panels were to remove material to make the pistol lighter in weight. It was sometimes used for marking by police agencies. The panel was discontinued on post WWI examples I would think it was found to not be worth the effort. Regards,

I am not sure what you are describing, possibly the milled panel above the grip? A picture would be most helpful. Regards,

Can you tell me what your conclusion is based on?

Experience. Import marks are in various locations. Under the barrel, in the milled side panels, the grip strap, etc... It varies with the importer.

It may of gotten by unstamped or the marking removed during refinishing. There is little doubt that it is one of the Chinese imports.

It is an early M1930 model and was most likely imported from China in the late 1970s to early 1980s and then reworked by Oyster bay or whom ever imported it. The import mark will tell you.
