Title: Model 1912 Mauser
Post by: jcorl on August 13, 2014, 10:10:53 AM
An auction site has a Chilean Steyr Mauser on it that is marked on the barrel, " M12 308 Germany".  It is advertised in the write up as an 8MM Mauser, Model 1912.  It is C. I. A. Import marked on the barrel.  Can anyone confirm for me that this is an 8MM or possibly .308 (rechambered).  I am not sure what the 308 equates to on the barrel.

Thank you for any assistance.

"M12 308 Germany" is probably a Century Arms stamp, I believe the original chambering for Chile was 7x57 mauser.
