Title: Any help is appreciated
Post by: smindel on July 09, 2015, 07:52:22 PM
I have acquired a Mauser HSc and holster with extra magazine from my father.
Serial # 752558
Eagle over “L” acceptance proof stamped on the left rear trigger guard web)
Holster - Kern Klager & C. – 1941 Berlin
Please see attached pictures.

I would appreciate any information on them and their approximate value.

Thanks!

smindel,
While HSCs are not my main focus, I do follow the market and think your example would bring $800-1000 at auction. This would be a auction estimate so it could sell for more or less. If you are valuing it for insurance purposes, I would insure for $1200-1500.

Regards,

Your example was made in 1942.  It has the "Police" , L acceptance stamp on it.  They made 7,300 Police that year. I cannot tell. if your example is high polish from the photo.  If so, then it is a Variation One.  If it has a military blue finish, then it would be considered a Variation 2.  I would need to see more photos to confirm the variation.  Looks like someone broke that grip recently.  The break looks fresh.  Have you checked to see if the internal numbers are a match to the serial number? Your holster is in great condition, as I am sure, you know.

jcorl - Thank you for confirming the date and type (police issue).
Yes the serial numbers do match.
I have attached additional photos to possibly help.
What do you suggest about the break on the grip?

It looks like a nice high polished, first variation.  There has been one on gunbroker for $900, but it has not sold.    That beautiful grip will be near impossible to repair.  I am headed to a gunshow latter this month.  Let me see, if I can locate one for a reasonable price to act as a replacement.   They seem too high priced on the internet.   That is a nice example and the holster is a keeper also!  What is on the bottom of your mag?
