Model HSC Pistol / French Era HSc With Mismatch Barrel Question
« on: November 02, 2020, 09:20:18 PM »
I ran across a very nice French era HSc, 961,xxx serial number range, phosphate finish, half moon bottom magazine, lanyard loop. The barrel appears to be mismatched with the numbers "51  56" and the WR stamp on it.  Sorry, I was not able to get pictures just yet.  My question is: how likely is it this pistol left the factory like this originally? The phosphate finish appears uniform and even, as best I can tell. I was curious how collectible / correct is it and likely impact to collector value.

Thanks for the help and advice in advance. I am somewhat rushed as the seller is likely to move the gun quickly.

Model HSC Pistol / Re: Now Available: "The Mauser HSc Pistol"

A high quality resource for the Mauser HSc pistol. I could not put my copy down. I loved the hard bound cover, that somewhat matches the period of the Mauser HSc... pure quality.  Do yourself a favor ... buy a copy!

Good results with the Pecard Antique leather product. I tried it on a somewhat worn military CZ holster.  the product did not remove any of the color and did a good job of moisturizing the dry areas of the holster. It did not leave any noticeable residue either; you work it into the leather with your hands.  Did not alter the gloss or finish in anyway.  Looks good.

I have "74" stamped in approximately the same location on the underside of my HSc slide.  I will try and post a picture this weekend to this thread.

Guys - what do you use to preserve leather on vintage holsters and slings? Any specific product or treatment? Recommendations for storage to prevent the leather from drying out and cracking? Thanks for the help.

Very cool.  Still available?  If I can get one, I will see about having copies made and we can enjoy one.  Let me know.

General Discussion / Re: Where Are YOU?
« on: February 09, 2017, 10:25:35 AM »
Hey guys! I am a 50-something, father of 4, living in Hanover PA. I grew up around firearms from my father and Boy Scouts. We use to buy Mauser rifles at the Sears and Montgomery Wards stores, cases of surplus ammo, those were the days. As I got older, I began collecting Mauser pistols and rifles. My collection is not extensive, but I look for quality and originality in the pieces I acquire.  The history behind these firearms is as enjoyable as the piece itself.  Along the way, the added pleasure has been meeting other collectors and owners, learning and swapping information. I recently found this website / forum. What a great resource. I hope to contribute and be an active member.  Let me know if I can help out in any way.  Best - James Miles
