Model HSC Pistol / Re: WWII HSC in .380

All WWII HSCs were in .32 caliber. Any vintage Mauser pistol in .380 would be some kind of prototype. Regards,

It is an early German military accepted example with British proof markings that were added later. Regards,

Apparently not. I am sure someone might be interested as you are. I am sure Bill Cody was gifted all sorts of arms during the tour of the Wild West show along with firearm he was know to have owned. Possibly he was gifted this in Europe. There is the Buffalo Bill Museum that may be able to authenticate this particular rifle to Bill. Without that no collector is going to pay for a story and the certificate accompanying the auction is not sufficient provenance to effect the price. Regards,

sharps, So you know the workings of a C96 and don't feel the need to explain what you are talking about to us? Ok. Yet you come here asking for help or about welding. Ok.

Simple answer for you. If it is made of metal it can be welded. Fair enough. Regards,

You have a .32 caliber Mauser pocket model, a.k.a a 1914 model variation. It was made in the mid 1920s and exported from Germany. For more information here is a link: https://unblinkingeye.com/Guns/MP-II/mp-ii.html

Frazer, I would tend to agree that you have an unusual C96. The serial number is pre-WWI though a NS hammer would indicate war time production. I do not think it a special contract SN as the range is too high. I have seen references of examples with threaded barrels and have also seen examples with checkered wood grips. There are a few things that give me pause, like the lack of fire blue on certain parts and what appears to be pitting under the blue. This could be a creation of a master gunsmith to appear to be something else. I am not willing to commit to even conjecture on what it may be. Regards,

Please pardon the messenger. I would have so real concerns over the marking on this example. Both magazines have an "X" and the font seems slightly different. The Eagle has some issues to my eye as well. Regards,

M30 stocks can never truly be considered "Matching" as they are not numbered. The only thing you can correctly state is that they are a "correct stock for the pistol".

Yes, a Schnell stock has a higher value, to the right buyer, than a similar condition M30 stock. Regards,

The stock appears to be a correct stock for the pistol and should not have a serial number stamped into the attaching iron. Regards,
