Model HSC Pistol / Need to replace magazine spring
« on: January 20, 2014, 08:54:37 AM »
Hello I have a weak spring in my 1941 HSc and want to replace the spring.  I have new springs coming from Wolff.  I have looked at the mags and it appears the current mag spring rests in a nich at the bottom plate. But I want to be right so if someone can help me I would appreciate it.

Thanks
Don

Model HSC Pistol / Re: New to me a Mauser HSc

Hello anyone the grips on my HSc are kind of dry.  What could I use that would restore some moisture to the wood but would not damage the wood or the value?

I believe Warbird is correct again, as the expert.  I don't see the ATP marking on the tang in your photo.  Bummer!

The picture is fuzzy at best at that place. But l did look at it magnified today see m other posts.

I thought the ATP was at the barrel end of the slide, my error. But the e/N there looks very much like an over stamp army test proof errantly applied to the end of the right side of the barrel end.

Model HSC Pistol / Re: To grease or not to grease?

Parts that roll get oil parts that rub against each other get grease.  I always put a little grease in my HSc slide rails but do nothing to the sear. I have never touched the sear in any of my hand guns

This is a  HSc i purchased from Scotty Benedict at Pre98.com.  It's a second variation blued with E/655 and E/N stamps and E/N on the right side of the slide the seems to be a little fuzzy. it's the same Eagle/N that is on the trigger guard.  I noticed this when I looking at it under higher magnification.

The HSC also has the Mauser Banner on the base of the bottom plate of the magazine.  The serial number is 734970.  The last three digits of the serial no. are electro penciled on the inside of the front of the slide and and in front of the chamber on the barrel, all matching.  The sight channel is checkered also.

Not dusty blue but standard military bluing .  The grips are original to the gun too.

I call it Mauser as it is a Walther P 38, produced at the Mauser plant in '42.
Bobcat

A Walther P.38 then its ac 42 not made in the Mauser plant.  However a byf 42 would have been made at the Mauser plant in late 1942 to early 1943 as parts including slides made in 1942 were still being used into early 1943 by Mauser.
