Looking at the original trigger bar, it appears to be minutely chipped, just enough to slip off the hammer. The new bar worked perfectly and the gunsmith ran 5 rounds through it. So I took it and a box of Magtech 71 gr. and set up a B27s target at 7 yards. I ran 32 rounds through the gun using both its original magazine and the one from Legacy that donp326 posted. I started each mag double action.
Results? The gun ran all 32 rounds without a bobble and kept all shots in the 9 ring. DA to SA transition was hardly noticeable, but thumbing the safety to fire was. Mag changes were easy. All in all
a great time, as good as getting a new gun, maybe.
I should mention the grips as my originals are too fragile to use. At first I tried I tried some from Triple
K: don't waste your time. They came warped(along with instructions on what to do if they came warped) . So, I got some from N.C. Ordnance which worked fine for shooting although they are slightly oversize.

Thanks to Warbird and donp326 for the tips and all who responded.

No luck. The smith says the trigger bar is worn. If so, is there a source for a spare?
Thanks in advance.

Took it into the gunsmith with a Wolff spring kit. He had no problem putting in the trigger spring but when I went in to check on the progress and tried the action, pulling the trigger in single action, the hammer dropped properly all the way, but in double action the hammer would rise OK, but when it dropped would stop at the half cock position every time. Prior to the new trigger spring it would do the same on single action; if I pushed up on the trigger bar, it would function properly. Do you generally need to adjust the position of the spring? Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance.

Warbird: thanks for the date of manufacture and the eBay link.
Jim: no serial number on the mag, just a plain phosphate(?) finish.

Thanks again for the replays.

Thanks for the reply. Re the grips, I should have clearer. All I need is reproductions. The full serial is 897890 and barrel and slide have the last 3 digits and it does have the 3 lines on the slide.

What sort of holster did the police Hsc's come with?

Thanks again.

I am trying to rehab my Eagle/L Hsc 897XXX. It has a broken trigger spring and the front part of the stock is chipped off. I also would like to get a good and proper spare magazine for it. The one with it is a blank floor plate with the half moon indent. Can anyone recommend sources for these? Also, what's the going price range for spare mags these days(I paid $65 for the gun back in 1973 :)

Thanks in advance.
